Vitamin D and low testosterone

Vitamin D, believe it or not, has more effects in our organism that the ones that we were traditionally taught at school. Right now, we know that it has an important influence in our sex lives, and it affects meaningfully our behavior, but let´s study how Vitamin D can improve our sex drive.

Vitamin D and low Testosterone

Vitamin D is an important fat-soluble nutrient naturally found in very few foods, such as mushrooms and fatty fish (i.e. sardines, salmon, mackerel) which contain high levels of vitamin D. Other foods, such as milk, are fortified with vitamin D. The body does produce high amounts of vitamin D when skin is directly exposed to sun (i.e. not through a window), so it’s sometimes referred to as the “sunshine vitamin.” However, excess sun exposure may increase the risk of skin cancer. Because vitamin D is difficult to find in foods and prolonged sun exposure carries health risks, nutritionists and doctors often prescribe supplements of varying doses.

A reasonable amount of research suggests an association between adequate levels of vitamin D in the body, as measured by 25(OH)D, and total testosterone (TT).

In a 2012 cross-sectional study, scientists measured levels of free testosterone (FT), total testosterone (TT), and 25(OH)D in 1,362 males, primarily white health professionals over the age of 40. The researchers divided 25(OH)D by quintile and noticed a positive, independent association between concentrations of 25(OH)D and levels of TT and FT. From lowest to highest, 25(OH)D quintile TT was 18.5, 19.4, 19.6, 20.1, and 20.0 nmol/L, and FT was 97.7, 98.2, 99.2, 100.7, and 101.5 pmol/L.  Most importantly, the researchers noted “that the association between 25(OH)D and total and free testosterone is linear at lower levels of 25(OH)D (below approximately 75-85 nmol/L), reaching a plateau at higher levels.” This suggests that the positive association between vitamin D and levels of free and total testosterone stops when vitamin D levels are optimal in the body. (1)

In another study, researchers compared the vitamin D and testosterone levels of 652 Korean men over 40 years old.

The researchers found that vitamin D deficiency, defined by levels less than 20 ng/ml, was independently associated with testosterone deficiency. Men with vitamin D deficiency were 2.65 times more likely to have testosterone deficiency compared to those with levels above 20 ng/ml.

The higher level of vitamin D was associated with higher total testosterone and free testosterone levels in Korean men,” the researchers concluded. (2)

Vitamin D and poor sex life

Vitamin D is for good for your sex life.  The influence of vitamin D in immunity and various benefits that use of this multi-vitamin provides for us has already been disclosed, for free, just simply by exposing ourselves to the sun. New studies show that testosterone levels, the male sex hormone, are higher in people with higher levels of vitamin D.
According to a study conducted by researchers at the Medical University of Graz, Austria, increasing levels of vitamin D in the body may help increase testosterone levels of men and their sexual desire. The work was published in the journal Clinical Endocrinology. (3)
The researchers tested the levels of vitamin D and testosterone in 2,299 men over several months. They found that as levels of vitamin D increase, testosterone levels peaked in the summer and fell during the winter. They also found that men who had at least 30 nanograms of vitamin D in each milliliter of blood had higher levels of circulating testosterone. (4)
Maybe for this reason, males who live by the ocean usually have a higher sex drive, compared with those who lives at  cities or far from the ocean, where sun exposure is not that intense or frequent.

Vitamin D and Erectile Dysfunction

Given the link between vitamin D and atherosclerosis, Italian researchers conducted a study in 143 men with erectile dysfunction (ED). The men were evaluated for penile atherosclerosis by ultrasound along with blood levels for vitamin D3.

The results showed that most men with ED have low vitamin D levels and those with more severe ED had significantly lower vitamin D levels than those with mild ED. Vitamin D deficiency was also worse in those with ED due to penile atherosclerosis than in those men with ED due to other factors.

These results indicate that low levels of vitamin D3 are linked to ED and indicate that vitamin D3 levels should be measured in men with ED. Establishing optimal blood levels of D3 may lead to better endothelial function and reduce/prevent ED. (5) stated that nearly half of the men were coming up deficient in vitamin D, and only one in five had optimal levels of the nutrient. What’s more, men with severe cases of ED (called arteriogenic ED) had vitamin D levels that were about 24 percent lower than those with mild forms of the condition.

Alessandra Barassi, MD, of University of Milan and her colleagues reported in the Journal of Sexual Medicine that low levels of vitamin D “might increase the ED risk by promoting endothelial dysfunction,” and that since low levels of vitamin D are common in all ED patients — not just those with arteriogenic disease — it “may be involved in the mechanism that promotes endothelial dysfunction causing ED.” (6).

This means that the lower the vitamin D levels, the harder it will be for you have a satisfactory sexual life.

We can conclude that vitamin D is not necessary only for the correct development of bones and teeth; it is also needed  to help you to have a healthy sexual life, that is why our recommendations would be: go to the beach more frequently, practice more outdoor activities, and take vitamin D supplements and you will keep a higher sexual drive during more years.

10 Foods to Get Harder Erections That Last Longer

Having a rock hard erection is every man’s dream. Did you think that a strong erection requires nothing more than arousal? But with the hazards of modern life like stress and improper sleep, it is becoming very difficult for men to get and maintain hard erections. Some men are also suffering from the embarrassing disorder called erectile dysfunction that does not allow them to satisfy their partner.

Here we will give you a list of the food you must avoid and the best foods that will help you to maintain the best diet for better erections.

Priority is to remove bad foods

Erectile dysfunction is a condition that presents with difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection. This may indicate a range of problems, including stress, clogged arteries, or nerve damage. Here you have several foods you should avoid to prevent from suffering erectile dysfunction.

Processed foods

High amounts of processed foods in your diet may lead to erectile dysfunction, according to Health Communities. Processed foods, or foods that are not in their original form, generally have fat, salt and sugar added, as well as artificial preservatives, sweeteners, and other chemical additives that can damage your health. How to get hard without Viagra or ED medication

Men can judge themselves pretty harshly when it comes to their performance in between the sheets. The unsettling fear of not being able to rise to the occasion becomes a recurring nightmare for men that is often equated with failure, loss of dignity, and masculinity. If you suffer from erectile dysfunction (ED), don’t be so hard on yourself, since impotence can almost always be improved with treatment, without having to rely on Viagra or other medications. Whether you suffer from ED, or hope to prevent the condition, here are six tips to overcome impotence without the side effects of the little blue pill (1).

In this article we are going to give you several tips to improve your erectile dysfunction without taking medications.

Avoid dependence

Although there´s several kind of drugs for Erectile Dysfunction that are well known and used, there is no evidence that people come to need more and more of them to get an erection, and no evidence of physical dependence. In fact, doctors often prescribe them to men with psychogenic erection problems, as a way to build confidence. After they become confident that they can have a normal erection, they don’t need the drugs any longer.  But our recommendation is trying more natural methods and do not allow the body get use to drugs use (2).

Avoid cost

If you avoid taking erectile dysfunction medications and try with more natural methods, you will have no costs out of pocket to face. Impotence drugs are expensive and you must keep taking them for a while to get the results you want.

Natural methods advantages

On the other hand, there´s several methods you can try, and they result as effective as pills and they last longer than a couple of hours. Among them we can suggest:

Lose weight and build muscle

This is perhaps the most important thing to do to increase your testosterone levels. Studies show that losing weight can increase levels significantly. When you lose weight you’ll also decrease your risk of several other health conditions that are associated with low testosterone levels including high blood pressure, obesity, and type 2 diabetes. (3)

Eat real foods not processed foods

Eat fewer processed carbohydrates like sugar and wheat flour. Replace them with fruits and vegetables, eat enough protein to build muscles, and fats. Eating foods rich in sugar (bread, candy, cookies, pasta, soda, etc.) causes rapid increases in your blood sugar. This, in turn makes your testosterone levels plummet. Studies find that one sugar rich meal can cause testosterone levels to decrease by as much as 25%. Do this repeatedly and you’re likely to have chronically low levels (4).

Take aphrodisiac supplements

The market has always been packed  with aphrodisiacs. Here you have a list of the most effective ones:

1. L-arginine supplements are known to relax the muscles in the penis, allowing enhanced blood flow and leading to an erection. L-arginine is found naturally in meat, dairy, poultry, and fish.
2. Oysters and other foods rich in zinc are good natural supplements for erectile dysfunction.
3. Vitamin C lowers the risk of male sexual dysfunction by increasing circulation. Studies show that men who take natural supplements with vitamin C have increased sexual activity and fewer intimacy problems.
4. Herbal supplements with Ginkgo are used for erectile dysfunction, particularly in people who experience sexual dysfunction as a side effect of antidepressant drugs.
5. Ginseng-based herbal supplements significantly increase the sex drive and improve erection quality.
6. Damiana is a plant native to Mexico and the southern United States. It has been widely used as an aphrodisiac in Mexico for men and women.
7. Yohimbe bark extracts are widely promoted as natural aphrodisiacs to increase libido and treat erectile dysfunction.
 8. Saw Palmetto, one of the most popular herbs to improve erectile dysfunction, promotes sexual and prostate health.
9. Horny Goat Weed has been used for centuries to stimulate sexual desire and improve penile function.
10. Licorice root naturally balances hormone levels and promotes sexual readiness and energy (5)

Kegel exercises for better erections

Kegel exercises for men are a great way to improve the overall health and hardness of their penis, along with increasing your ability to last longer in bed. Just like with women, Kegels for men have one primary goal — strengthen your pubococcygeus (PC) muscle (also known as the pelvic floor muscle.)

The Kegel is just as beneficial for men wanting to improve their sex lives, as women. However, Kegel exercises for men have a wide range of other benefits, some of which can cure problems or indirectly enlarge the penis. These benefits include:

  • Healthier pelvic floor muscles, thanks to Kegels, gives you a more erect erection.
  • Kegels will help you have harder erections that last longer, thanks to the improvement of penile blood flow.
  • Kegels will help you increase ejaculation force and volume, giving you the most explosive orgasms you’ve ever had.
  • Kegels indirectly enlarge the penis, through increased blood flow.
  • Kegels can help you control your ability to orgasm, giving you greater sexual stamina. (6)

Abstain from porn

Porn definitely has an effect over sexual drive. According to a study conducted by a group of medical experts affiliated with the Italian Society of Andrology and Sexual Medicine, a survey of 28,000 Italian men, researchers found “gradual but devastating” effects of repeated exposure to pornography over long period of time.  According to the head of the study, Carlos Forsta, the problem starts with lower reactions to porn sites, then there is a general drop in libido and in the end it becomes impossible to get an erection. Morning wood and erectile dysfunction – 6 ways to get morning wood back for good

Morning wood is another way to refers to the early morning erections that are frequently present among men. Erections, or penile tumescence, occur during the sleep stage called Rapid Eye Movement (REM) Sleep.

It seems that during the REM cycle, the body’s systems are tested, including the function of the erectile tissue within the penis. The parasympathetic nerves trigger the tissues to become engorged with blood, and then firm.

There are a few reasons that a man may not wake up with a morning erection. First, younger adolescent boys who are not fully capable of erections will not likely have one upon awakening. These erections may occur with increasing frequency later in puberty, and into adult life. Men may not wake with an erection if they’re not coming out of REM sleep at that time. But the lack of Morning wood is linked to Erectile Dysfunction and it could, eventually,  lead to ED (1)

Here we will analyze in depth this phenomenon and we will give you several tips to fix your morning wood.

Night time or morning erections are sign of good vascular health

Morning wood happens to most healthy men on a regular, almost nightly basis. So why does it happen and why does it matter?

When you are in a REM cycle, your body shuts down the production of norepinephrine, a neurotransmitter that constricts the blood vessels leading to your penis. It does this so it can begin the repair and rebuilding process of your pipes.

So if you miss out on this REM sleep cycle, or fail to stay in it long enough, norepinephrine will stay elevated all night long, which will impact your wood the following morning. This lack of nighttime blood flow will also cause other problems, because the rush of blood into your penis at night oxygenates and repairs vascular smooth muscle cells while you sleep (2).

Morning erections are sign that testosterone levels are normal

The amount of testosterone in a man’s body in the morning is far greater than any other time in the day. This surge of testosterone is also one of the leading reasons for a morning erection (3).

Lack of morning wood means possible low testosterone or poor vascular health – should be addressed

When your morning erections (morning wood) stop sprouting in the early hours of the day, your chances of having regular, healthy wood at other times are likely to be far lower too.

Guys whose morning erections are fading fall into 2 categories:

  1. Stress/sleep related:

For some guys, this means that they need to get earlier nights, depend less on caffeine to wake up in the mornings, and drink less alcohol. Higher levels of cortisol, which is produced in response to stress, are common in the digital age of high pressure work environments.

In this case, restoring the morning wood can be as simple as taking some measures to reduce stress and improve sleep.

  1. Deteriorating physical condition/cardiovascular health

For other guys, the lack of morning wood could be seen as a more serious sign of declining health. Your sexual performance reveals a lot about your physical condition.

Guys who are overweight, diabetic, who don’t exercise and who frequently indulge in binges of processed food, alcohol and porn, are far more likely to experience ED at an earlier stage in life.

Low testosterone and its impact on wood production hasn’t been entirely sussed out yet, but we do have plenty of evidence to look at…For one, when testosterone levels drop, blood sugar levels usually rise, and arteries harden quickly when you have too much sugar in your blood. And hard arteries make soft erections.

Low-t also causes insomnia in many men and nothing will terminate am wood faster than poor sleep patterns (more on this in a minute).

Ways to fix morning wood

This problem could be temporary. Here you have some good advice to improve it:

Lose belly fat –sure way to reduce estrogen and increase testosterone

Belly fat, or visceral fat, is the most dangerous type of fat there is. This deadly fat wraps around the organs deep in your abdomen, spiking your risk for diabetes, heart disease, stroke and metabolic syndrome.

Weight gain can accelerate losing testosterone process. According to a study of  the New England Research Institute they monitored the health of men ages 40 to 70 for 9 years, they found that the men who became overweight or obese experienced a more rapid drop in testosterone than those who’d kept a normal weight. Thinner men might just be manlier men (5).

Replace with muscle

Vigorous resistance exercise triggers a big burst of testosterone. Stick to weightlifting movements that hit multiple muscle groups, limit your rest between sets, and keep cardio to a minimum. This approach stimulates your body’s production of growth hormone, which helps you build more muscle faster (6).

Stop porn consumption – depletes dopamine which correlates to testosterone

Porn is so easy to access by anyone, that you can actually find what ever your fantasies are with a click of a mouse in your own computer.

You may think this sounds great but before you break out the kleenex, let me stop you there, because the evidence is growing that overconsumption of porn is leading to porn addiction, dopamine burnout and the now infamous PIED (porn induced ED).

Getting high on porn is very similar to a cocaine habit: get high, try some more later. Produce more dopamine in your brain. Then take more to get the same high. Then take a little more. Before you know it, you’re watching porn morning, noon and night.

The result is an addiction to the sharp hits of dopamine your body is getting from the effect. Meaning you may not be able to even get hard without watching porn, or you may lose your wood during sex. (7).

Reduce cosmetics and meds – meds for diabetes, hypertension, and treatments for hair loss can ruin sex drive

Oftentimes low libido is related to your lifestyle, and that includes any medications you are taking. Many medications can interfere with your sex drive, including the 11 that follow. Considering the widespread use of many of these, it’s likely that medication use is a leading cause of low libido

If you’re taking one of these and have experienced a drop in your libido, talk with a natural health care practitioner about drug-free alternatives. Many of the drugs below are used for conditions that are better treated using non-drug methods (8).

HIIT – sure way to rapidly boost testosterone – 8 x 30 second sprints or rapid circuits

The high-intensity interval training or HIIT is a  form of cardio that  intersperses intervals of high-intensity exercise (such as sprinting) with intervals of either low-intensity exercise (such as walking at a slow pace) or complete rest.

This style is a departure from continuous steady-state (slow and steady) cardio that most people do at a moderate intensity for 30-60 minutes.

New Zealand researchers had competitive cyclists complete 4 weeks of HIIT training involving 30-second sprints on a stationary cycle separated by 30 seconds of rest.

One group sprinted with high resistance on the pedals, making it harder to pedal, while the other group used a lighter resistance, which was easier to peddle.

Both groups peddled as fast as they could during the 30-second sprints. They found that the men peddling at the highest resistance increased their testosterone levels by almost 100 percent, while the group peddling at a lighter resistance only increased test levels by about 60 percent (9).

Low vitamin D – studies show correlation between vitamin D and testosterone

According to a study presented at the American Urological Association 2015 Annual Meeting in New Orleans, low levels of vitamin D are significantly and independently associated with low levels of testosterone in otherwise healthy middle-aged men.

In this new analysis of data from of the World Trade Center CHEST program, blood samples from 824 men were analyzed for various parameters, such as 25-hydroxyvitamin D and total testosterone. Hypovitaminosis D was defined as a 25-hydroxyvitamin D level below 30.0 ng/L.

Total testosterone was higher in men with normal levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D than in men with lower levels (341.7 vs 319.6 ng/L; P = .012) (10).

Testicles shrinking – what solution ?

When we talk about male anatomy, testicles, same as penis size, are a very important  issue. No one wants to be tagged as small down there, even when they could be but, what if that is a problem and not just a size issue? What if your testicles are shrinking? Here we will explain why this could happen and what you could do to revert this situation.

Testicle size linked to testosterone levels

According to a recent study, larger testicles are linked with higher testosterone levels and sperm counts, as well as increased promiscuity and, in humans, marital breakdown and divorce.

The relative size of a man’s testicles may also influence the chances of him being a good father according to a study suggesting a biological basis for parenting abilities in men.

Men with larger testes are significantly less likely to display good parenting skills compared to men with smaller testes because of a well-established trade-off in evolution between mating and child-rearing, scientists said (1)

Testosterone in rapid decline

It is something not that hard to explain but: in human bodies, as we know, there´s two kind of hormones that give the sexual proper functions to male or female: testosterone and estrogen, respectively. In testosterone case, it is produced by testicles so, when the level of testosterone is low, the estrogen present in men´s body comes up and make the testicles shrink.

When men have too much estrogen, they’ll often grow breasts just like a woman, while their testicles waste away at the same time (2).

Small testicles may mean lower libido, lower sperm count

Doctors say that there is no connection between a man’s sexual drive and low sperm count. All men with lower sperm count are not likely to have lower libido due to lower testosterone.

“A man with a high libido or sex drive may suffer from low sperm count. The two aren’t connected,” said fertility expert Dr Sonia Malik in a job published on India Times (3)

Dr Tanya Buckshee Rohatgi, fertility expert from Max Hospital, India, says there appears to be a global decline in semen quality and a host of influences like environmental exposure, nutritional, behavioral, or genetic  factors seemed to be the cause.

Dr Rohatgi also says men with low sperm counts are often advised to abstain from sex to improve their sperm count. However, new research suggests that too much abstinence can damage the DNA (genetic make up) of the sperm that is produced.

Causes include

There´s several causes that could produce testicles shrinking, among them we could mention:

Chemical exposure

Exposure to too much aluminum may cause a low sperm count and infertility, and a side effect of smaller testicles. In a recent study, researchers examined 62 sperm samples and measured aluminum content, finding average of 339 parts per billion (high), with some men even having aluminum has high as 500 parts per billion. Those with the higher levels of aluminum were more likely to have low sperm counts and were therefore less fertile. Such exposure may lead to oxidative stress,  in the testicles, causing cells to die, and the testicles to shrink (4).

Heat will definitely shrink the testes. In a study of rams, heat actually shrunk the testes by about a third by weight.  This is particularly remarkable, because the rams were not subject to ultrahigh heat, but rather constant heat in the 28-23 degrees Celcius range (82-90 degrees Fahrenheit) continuously for two weeks (5).

Poor diet

A diet with a lack of nutrients and vitamins and plenty of carbohydrates could develop into aromatase dysorders. Aromatase resides in fat cells, so the more fat a man has on his body, the more estrogen it produces and it, as we said before, lead you into testicles shrinkage (6).

Stress and lack of sex

It is well known that stress can disrupt proper functioning of our endocrine. Not only can it throw our hormone balance off, it can also affect our reproductive organs in vicious ways. For men, high stress hormones and high cortisol levels reduce their testosterone levels, decrease hGH, and affect growth factors of erectile tissues that eventually lead to shrinkage of penis and testicles size (7)

Hormone replacement

If you introduce additional Testosterone into your body, your own supply is suppressed and the clearance rate increases. As a result, the testicles may take a vacation and actually shrink (8).

Ways to increase testicular size

Cruciferous veggies

Cruciferous vegetables like broccoli are rich in indoles, which boost testosterone production by breaking down and flushing the system of excess estrogen, which inhibits the production of male sex hormones. In one study, supplementing with indole-3-carbinol from cruciferous vegetables for just 7 days cut the estrogen hormone estradiol in half for men. Another study found indole supplementation significantly increased urinary excretion of estrogens (9)

More sleep

A study from researchers at the University of Southern Denmark found an interesting correlation between a man’s quality of sleep and his testicle size. They surveyed almost 1,000 men about their sleep schedules, sleep interruptions, and sleep habits, and then tested their testicular sizes and sperm counts. They found that those men who reported insomnia, stayed up late, or slept inconsistently had sperm counts that were 29 percent lower. On top of that, their testicles were also 1.6 percent more deformed while also being smaller in size.

So, take a cup of warm milk with honey, forget about your problems and enjoy a wonderful night of sleep and keep your testicles size (10).

More sex/less masturbation

Testicle shrinkage (testicular atrophy) occurs when the testes, located inside the scrotum, diminish in size because of  exhaustion from excessive masturbation and ejaculation. Diminished testicles are too accompanied by the loss of reproduction function, which can result in low sperm count or unhealthy sperm.

The severity of testicle shrinkage caused by over masturbation develops in stages. During the problematic stage, the sufferer experiences performance anxiety and weak erections. The severe stage finds him with back pain, while the addictive stage causes impotence. Finally, during the severely addictive stage, a male experiences all of the aforementioned symptoms, plus testicular shrinkage and groin and testicular pain (11).

Reduce stress

We already explained what stress caused so, take your headphones, listen to your favorite music and forget about problems for a while.

Hemorrhoids and erectile dysfunction

Link between hemorrhoids and EDWhen someone talks about hemorrhoids, no one can imagine that they could be linked to Erectile Dysfunction (ED) but, several researches have been showing that men may be more likely to suffer from erectile dysfunction (ED) if they have previously been diagnosed with hemorrhoids, particularly if they are aged under 40 years.

Now we will analyze the facts that are related with these two situations.

Study shows direct link

Based on a study developed by Herng-Ching Lin from Taipei Medical University, Taiwan and colleagues, their analysis showed that 1572 (24.9%) of 6310 individuals who had been diagnosed with erectile dysfunction between January 2001 and December 2009 had also previously received a diagnosis of hemorrhoids. However, of 31,550 individuals who were matched for age and index year and who did not have ED, only 4491 (14.2%) had previously been diagnosed with hemorrhoids (1).

Logistic regression analysis showed that the men who had erectile dysfunction were 90% more likely than those who did not have it to have previously suffered from hemorrhoids.

Further analysis by age group revealed that the association was strongest among younger men.

Indeed, of the men with erectile dysfunction, those aged less than 30 years were 3.71 times more likely to have previously experienced hemorrhoids than their age-matched controls, while those aged 30-39 years and 40-49 years were 2.39 and 1.69 times more likely, respectively, compared with their age-matched controls (2).

Why are they linked?

Impotence is the inability to attain or maintain an erection of the penis that is firm enough for sexual intercourse.

To initiate and maintain an erection, the penis must fill with blood. One type of blood vessel opens wide to allow blood into the penis. Meanwhile, a second type of blood vessel squeezes down to keep the blood from leaving the penis. Nerve signals cause the proper changes in the blood vessels (3).

Hemorrhoids are swollen blood vessels in and around the anus and lower rectum and this cause the irregular blood circulation in the pelvic area causing the inability to maintain an erection and later the ED.

This is basically the link in this case.

5 ways to get rid of hemorrhoids naturally

Fortunately, there are many different methods to get rid of hemorrhoids and prevent them from returning. here you have a few of the most common.

Improve diet

Give some special attention to your diet and do not forget to include these food products to the meals that you eat every single day:

  1. Fruits and Vegetables (berries, apples, broccoli, dark leafy greens, beans, pears, avocados, artichokes, peas and winter squash)
  2. Fiber Rich Food Products
  3. Whole Grains
  4. Yogurt and Kefir (4).

Always remember that fiber helps keep water in the stool and bulks it up so that it passes through the rectum and anus more easily–and in the case of hemorrhoids, with less pain.

Drink water

Increase your water consumption to at least 8-10 8 oz glasses each day. Stool (feces) contain significant amounts of water—and the more water a stool contains, the softer it will be, which makes it easier to pass (5).

Reduce toilet time

Allow gravity to help, but let your bowels do most of the work. If nothing happens, put it off for an hour or so, and try again but most importantly, don’t strain and force a bowel movement that isn’t happening naturally (6).

Arrange a regular time to have a bowel movement without interruptions around the same time every day,  tends to make bowel bleeding movements easier, and it turns out that having regular bowel movements is a great predictor of overall good health

Apple cider vinegar

Using apple cider vinegar is one of the most popular natural treatments for hemorrhoids. Simply soak a cotton ball or some toilet paper with apple cider vinegar and apply it to the hemorrhoid area. Repeat this process until the inflammation disappears and symptoms resolve. You should see improvement instantly. Alternatively, add some apple cider vinegar (half a cup) to a sitz bath (7).

Note that applying it directly may cause a stinging sensation for some time but that will decrease itching and pain instantly. For internal hemorrhoids, consuming a teaspoon of vinegar with water, may provide relief from pain and bleeding.

Coconut oil

Coconut oil contains medium chain saturated oils which your body requires to prevent hemorrhoids. It also has antiviral, antimicrobial and anti-bacterial properties.

The right method would be: Apply coconut oil directly to hemorrhoids, rinse and repeat. In addition to symptoms subsiding, the hemorrhoids should disappear over the course of just a few days (8).

Always remember that you must pay attention to the call of nature and that waiting to go to the bathroom just could bring you health problems that you could easily avoid. Another good remedy is applying some cold compresses. The best time to apply them is one hour before you go to bed.

I am sure you do not want to suffer of erectile dysfunction caused by hemorrhoids and hemorrhoids are a problem annoying enough to add to something else that really will alter your life, so improve your diet, practice exercise frequently and avoid waiting to go to the bathroom, these tips are going to help you prevent hemorrhoids.

Back pain and erectile dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a problem that occurs in many men, and for many reasons. ED is often caused by physical conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and low testosterone. Other causes may include psychological issues, blood flow problems, hormonal fluctuations, and nerve damage.

Many people think that erectile dysfunction is just an old person’s problem or that it’s just in a person’s head, but that is not the case especially for those that also have low back problems. According to several studies about it, the percentage of men under 50 years old that has spine problems and suffer from erectile dysfunction could reach 34%. The link between spine disease and sexual potency has long been a subject of speculation, but the mechanisms remain unclear (1).

Along this post, we will analyze the reasons that could cause the problem and how are both diseases linked and what could help to resolve them.

Proven link between back problems and Erectile Dysfunction

According with recent studies directed by Irwin Goldstein, M.D., medical director of Alvarado Hospital’s Sexual Medicine Program—the first hospital-based sexual medicine program in the U.S.—and editor-in-chief of The Journal of Sexual Medicine, men who experience back pain and lower spine problems could also experience problems with erections (2).

Men with back pain may be experiencing blood flow difficulties in the pelvis as the cause of erection problems. According to Dr. Goldstein, pelvic muscles can become weak and spasm from back injuries, resulting in decreased sexual function from limited blood flow to the penis when muscles spasm.

Painkillers make the problem much worse

Based on a research made to 11.000 men  who suffer from back pain are in a higher risk for erectile dysfunction. The health records of the participants were analyzed to determine whether males taking prescription opioids were more likely to also receive prescriptions for  testosterone replacement or ED medications.

The investigators found that over 19% of males who took high-dose opioids for 4 months or more were also given ED prescriptions, while fewer than 7% of males who did not take painkillers received prescriptions for ED (3).

Muscular treatment for back problems helps

The goals of physical therapy are to decrease pain, increase function, restore normal movement, and prevent recurrences.

Massage therapy increases circulation to the affected area. There are several techniques and devices used in massage therapy.

Electrotherapy involves sending gentle electric currents through the skin to stimulate muscular contraction, increase muscle strength, and increase the flow of neurochemicals to the area.

In ultrasound, sound waves penetrate the skin and cause soft tissues to vibrate, creating deep gentle heat that increases blood flow, relieves pain and inflammation, and reduces muscle spasms.

All these techniques could help you to minimize your back pain without painkillers use what could help you also to improve your Erectile dysfunction problems (4).

Kegel exercises boost erections and restore strength

Several researches suggest pelvic muscle training may be helpful for treating ED as well as other pelvic health issues. Pelvic floor exercises improve the strength of the pelvic floor muscles and are more commonly known as Kegel exercises (5)

The best method for locating the muscles of the pelvic floor (the lower pelvis) is to stop your stream several times in the middle of urination. The muscles you clench to do this are the ones you need to exercise.

To perform a rep of Kegel exercises, squeeze those muscles, hold for five seconds, then relax. Repeat this 10 to 20 times, two or three times a day. You may want to try this in different positions, including lying down with your knees up, sitting in a chair, and standing (6).

To close, I would like to say men suffering from both back pain and erectile dysfunction may be surprised to find out that the back pain could be causing the erectile dysfunction.  Our bodies are a complex infrastructure of connected parts that can either work fluidly together or cease to function properly when one area is affected. Erectile dysfunction is often a symptom of other areas of concern.

The process of getting an erection begins when something sexually stimulating impacts the senses, making the muscles of the penis relax and blood flow increase to the area which then pushes against the veins carrying blood out so that they are blocked and thus an erection is created. Erectile dysfunction is then usually caused by blood flow being disrupted, slowed, or hindered through out the body.

Back issues can cause erectile dysfunction when nerves or veins are pinched, leading to lessened blood flow to the pelvic area.  Many men who have had a car accident or work injury affecting the back or pelvis region then found themselves facing erectile dysfunction.  When this correlation was first discovered, treating the back injuries was found to cure the erectile dysfunction at the same time.

Treating the cause for the problem will lead to a cure for the symptom, so have your back checked and work on leading a healthy lifestyle full of nutritious foods and exercise.

Remedy For Erectile Dysfunction Caused by Diabetes

Hi Jon, I have diabetes type 2 and erectile dysfunction. Is it linked and is it caused by my condition or medication for diabetes? I’m sick of having erection problems. I can’t stay hard for the wife even though I want to. This is not great for us. I need a remedy for this somehow. Will your male libido booster program work well for me?

Type 2 diabetes is a “disease” that is affectingly increasingly high numbers of men and women throughout the world.

I am constantly contacted by men suffering from diabetes who have serious erection problems, due in part to their poor health and in part due to the side effects of the medication that doctors prescribe to treat diabetes.

What I find ridiculous is that this “disease” and its symptoms can be reversed in most people by simply exercising more and choosing foods more carefully.

And yes, this means that you shouldn’t need those meds ever again (obviously ask your doctor when the time is right to stop).

First Of All, A Few Words About Diabetes..

Diabetes mellitus is a condition that affects large numbers of people around the world.  The most common indication that a person has the condition is high blood sugar, and the exact cause of this will depend on the form of diabetes that is present.

Type 1 diabetes, also referred to as insulin-dependent diabetes, usually has an onset that occurs during childhood, and is a result of the pancreas not producing insulin (or producing levels that are too low to keep the blood sugar under control).

Type 2 diabetes, which may be referred to as adult-onset diabetes, is due to the body developing a resistance to insulin, and therefore not responding to it in the usual manner.  It is also possible for women to develop the symptoms of diabetes during pregnancy, even when they are not normally affected.  This is called gestational diabetes.

For type 2 diabetes in particular, because the body has become resistant to insulin, it is necessary to control the blood sugar primarily through changes to the diet.  The use of insulin injections is not effective for this form of the disease, although they are needed for patients with type 1 diabetes.

Diabetes is a chronic disease, and once the symptoms have developed, it may be necessary to have lifelong management and treatment. Lifestyle changes will be extremely important when it comes to managing the symptoms.

How To Reverse Diabetes And See Your Erections Improve Fast

Changes in what you are eating will be an important part of managing your condition.  There is some debate over what is the most appropriate diet for a person with diabetes, but it is usually considered necessary to reduce the intake of carbohydrates.  This includes both sugars, which are simple carbohydrates, and starchy foods, which are broken down into sugars by the digestive system.

It is usually advisable to stay away from foods that have a high glycaemic index (GI), because these release energy very quickly and will cause a spike in blood sugar.  This will lead to the onset of symptoms that are associated with high blood glucose.

It is also a good idea to reduce the intake of saturated fat, because type 2 diabetes is very closely linked to obesity.  The majority of people who develop this form of diabetes are classified as overweight or obese.  Being overweight is one of the biggest risk factors, and can largely be prevented by following a healthy diet.

Saturated fat is found in large quantities in processed foods, which also usually contain lots of sugar.  Red meat is also high in saturated fat.  Cutting down on these two food groups will help to reduce your weight, and this can help to minimise the symptoms of diabetes.  In many cases, the body will become more responsive to insulin and naturally reduce the severity of a disease as a result.

Increasing the amount of exercise that you do is also a good way to help bring your weight back under control. Even a brisk walk each day will provide exercise and, over time, you will start to notice a difference.  This will also reduce the risk of some of the complications of diabetes, such as ulcers on the feet.

Intense workouts should also be considered, especially once you start to lose some excess weight and feel more active and fit.

Eating on a regular basis is key to maintaining your blood sugar at a steady level.  Don’t be tempted to skip meals, as this will lead to a dip in your blood sugar and cause you to crave sweet items.  You should make sure that you eat breakfast every day, as this will prevent the levels from dropping too low.  Diabetic patients are often advised to base meals around low GI carbohydrates, which release energy slowly throughout the day.

Brown rice, pasta and bread are all examples of low GI carbohydrates, although the more refined white varieties should be avoided, as they are broken down into sugar too quickly.

Cutting down on the amount of sugar and salt that you consume is something you should attempt to do.  If you normally add sugar to your tea or coffee, then the best way to stop is to gradually reduce the amount each time.  This will be easier than an abrupt change.  Salt should also be reduced.  When you are cooking, you should think about replacing salt with a variety of herbs and spices to flavour your food.

Some herbs and spices are reported to have beneficial effects on the symptoms of diabetes, by reducing blood sugar naturally.  You should be aware that if you are taking medications for your case of diabetes, there can be some interactions between these and the herbs.  Speak to your doctor for advice, or you may find that your blood sugar begins to drop to dangerously low levels.

Some herbs that you may want to consider using include:

  • Garlic.  Although studies on this common herb have been limited, it has shown a positive result in reducing blood glucose levels.  It is also thought to boost the production of insulin and reduce the rate at which it is broken down.  This can lead to cells in the body responding more effectively to the hormone, taking up glucose from the bloodstream and using it to produce energy.  You will find that you are less tired, as a result.
  • Ginseng.  There are several varieties of this herb, and they are known to boost energy.  It has also been reported that the type known as American ginseng has led to decreases in fasting blood sugar levels, although further research is needed to verify these reports.
  • Fenugreek.  This herb is widely used in certain parts of the world, most notably India and the Mediterranean.  Studies have been carried out, and it has been shown to improve the blood sugar levels in the majority of patients.  Fenugreek has been used in Ayurvedic treatment as well as being a common cooking ingredient.  It is likely that further research will be carried out on this herb, as it appears to be the most effective natural treatment for diabetes.

There are a number of other common herbs and spices that can be used in reducing blood glucose, although the reports have not been investigated and verified by clinical trials.  Cinnamon and ginger have also been suggested as having some beneficial effects.

You should discuss any natural remedies you are considering with your doctor and, ideally a dietician, before you start to make any changes. This should help you to avoid any episodes of hypoglycaemia, which can be just as dangerous as high blood sugar levels, or hyperglycaemia.

Overall, by making a number of changes to your diet, you should be able to control your blood sugar more effectively.

By engaging in regular intense exercise as well (5 times per week) you might be able to reverse diabetes and get your healthy, hard erections back to how  they should be.
