There is evidence that young men who masturbate up to 3 times a day, every day during their teenage years and their early twenties can suffer from weak sex drive and low testosterone later in life.

This doesn’t mean that you should completely refrain from masturbation and ejaculation though.

It means you should control how often you do it.

Remember: too much ejaculation is bad and not enough is bad. Regular but not frequent masturbation is optimal for most men.

How often should a man masturbate?

Masturbation frequency depends on age.

Teenage years

As a teenager, I would recommend keeping it to 3-4 times per week maximum. Of course, you’ll feel like doing it more often occasionally, but as a general rule, restrain yourself.

In your 20s

As for a man in his twenties, 3 times per week is really the most you should be masturbating. Doing it more often may leave you depleted of energy and motivation, especially in your late twenties. You can still have sex but don’t masturbate too often.

Too much masturbation can reduce testosterone levels and leave your erections weak.

But take care if you masturbate often, because you’ll notice this dip later on in life, not right away.

In your 30s

I’d recommend 2-3 times a week as an optimal level. If you’re single or your parter is away for a couple of weeks, then masturbating every 2 or 3 days is fine. On other days, feel free to masturbate without ejaculating to boost erection power and ejaculation control.

Of course, you can do it less often too.

In your 40s and 50s

After 40 years old it depends on your testosterone levels. You may have a frisky libido and find your sex drive increasing if you masturbate occasionally.

I’d say you can still tank off 2 times a week if you feel ok. But no more. And make sure you have a break in between days.

In your 60s

I would recommend keeping up some masturbation even after 60 years old.

Your testosterone will be prevented from dipping excessively if you masturbate occasionally at this age.

No more than twice per week.

Sometimes, we need to masturbate to wake up our libido. But do it too often and you’ll see your erections go weak.

Is it best to ejaculate every time?

A good way to improve your testosterone levels is to control ejaculation.

You can masturbate for over twenty minutes and restrain yourself from ejaculating completely.

Do this in the morning when your wife or girlfriend is out and you’ll be like a raging bull by the time she gets back.

Masturbating “reminds” your body that it has testosterone and stimulates your sex drive.

But don’t do it too much.

Masturbation and ejaculation too frequently will have negative effects and deplete all energy levels.

You may have heard about Eastern practices of refraining completely from masturbation and ejaculation.

Some Buddhist monks manage to live a life of complete celibacy.

There is even a famous singer who claims to refrain from ejaculating completely and remain healthy.

If they do it, why can’t you?
